It has been a while since I’ve updated this blog, so here is something that I worked on recently.
As part of my cosplaying hobby, I attend meet-ups/gatherings; one certain group that hosts these gatherings is called NorCal Cosplay. Their gatherings have been gaining popularity (the last one hosted had around 300 people), and so they had a logo contest in late April. I entered two ideas; the winning logo was chosen via popular vote, and mine didn’t win. However, I’m still proud of them, and so I’m posting them here on my blog.
The first idea was to emphasize the photographer/cosplayer aspect; NorCal Cosplay prides itself in being an easy place for photographers and cosplayers to meet in a scenic location and take photos. I thought it would look better as a digital work rather than my usual medium of watercolor, so I did it all in Illustrator. It took some fiddling around with settings and effects (especially for the ring around the camera lens), but this was the final result.
This second one was also about the photographer/cosplayer dynamic, but I also wanted to reference something that is scenically NorCal. Again, this is all done in Illustrator, although this was much simpler to do because of the flat silhouettes.
It would’ve been cool if I had won, but c’est la vie.
